You have got your new web site how can you get people to
look at it and bring you business?
- Include your site address on all your literature, business cards,
leaflets, posters - anything.
- If you advertise anywhere
highlight your web site. For instance just advertise your name and
type of business with "visit our web site at www.yourname for details of
our special offers" underneath in bold type.
- Promote yourself on the search engines. Visit the search engine
sites. Most have an "add URL" or "add a site" or similar link. Follow
the link and add your site address, title and description. Do this on a
regular basis say monthly and your site will go slowly up the rankings.
- Pay for it. Some search engines have a dual policy whereby you can
promote your site with them for free but it may take a long time for them to
register, whereas if you pay they action it immediately.
- Sponsored Links can be very successful. Many of the most popular
Search engines including Freeserve, MSN (which is the search facility on the
most popular browser) and Alta Vista place sponsored sites above all the
other rankings. The premier sponsored link company is Overture.
On Overture you bid for position with the minimum bid being 10p per click
which compares well with the cost of newspaper advertising and then posting
out brochures.
- Links on other web sites is an excellent way of bringing people to your
site. Is there a trade or regional organisation for your business type ?
If they have a web site contact them and ask them to link back to your site.
If they have a trade journal or brochure ask them to print your site address
with your entry.
I can promote your site on the search engines for you by
including relevant keywords on your site which are eventually picked up by the
Search Engines or by bidding for sponsored links for you using Overture.
